A Working Group workshop to share open-access tools and resources for teaching Design for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
On 7 May 2026, the EDIDesK project took part in Cumulus Athens 2026 with the Working Group workshop “From Roots to Routes: Establishing a Shared Knowledge on Design for EDI through Open-Access Content and Tools”, hosted at the University of West Attica, Athens, Greece.
The workshop focused on one of the key challenges in contemporary design education: how to introduce Equality, Diversity and Inclusion - EDI into Design Studies through unbiased content, shared teaching and learning protocols, and open educational resources.
During the session, the EDIDesK team presented the main project outcomes developed across WP2, WP3 and WP4, with particular attention to the EU Framework for Teaching Design for EDI and the EDIDesK Digital Teaching and Learning Platform. The platform is conceived as an open-access environment where educators, researchers, students and contributors can search, explore, adopt, reuse and contribute teaching resources on Design for EDI.
The workshop combined short presentations, guided demonstrations, a live demo of the platform, open Q&A and structured feedback moments. Participants were invited to share their perspectives on how EDIDesK resources could support teaching innovation, curriculum development and inclusive design education within the Cumulus community.
The session was chaired and coordinated by Emilio Rossi (UNICH) and Alessia Brischetto (UNIFI).
Speakers included Marta Więckowska (ASP), Zuzana Čerešňová (STU), Ainoa Abella Garcia (ELISAVA) and Cristina González Avendaño (ELISAVA).
The workshop represented an important opportunity to share the EDIDesK project results with an international academic community and to open new conversations around inclusive, accessible and open approaches to design education.
